Robert L. Stanley

Robert L. Stanley, 82, of Fortville, passed away Oct. 11, 2013, in Indianapolis, surrounded by his family. He was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Ingalls, to Homer and Cecil (Stanley) Brantlinger, who passed away when he was a small child. He was later adopted by his Uncle Everett and Aunt Edna (Holloway) Stanley.

Bob retired from Plant Protection for Western Electric after 24 years, and also sold real estate for Robert Smith Realty and Steve Vendel Realty, both in Fortville. He was a 1948 graduate of Pendleton High School, and was involved with United States Auto Club (Indy Racing League) and Indy 500 Old Timers Club. He was a former member and Chief of the Fortville Fire Department. He served on the Fortville Council for Economic Development and Fortville Town Council

He is survived by his wife, Janice (Cash) Stanley, whom he married on Oct. 27, 1950; sons, Greg (Huei Ja) Stanley, of McCordsville, Roger (Nola) Stanley, of Green Bay, Wis. and Steve (DeAnna) Stanley of Fortville; daughter, Jana (Allen) McIntosh of Westfield; 11 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his birth parents; adoptive parents; brother, Jack Allen; and sister, Phyllis (Calvert) Rash.

Friends may call from 4 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at Seals Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Fortville. A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Gravel Lawn Cemetery.
