Robert W. Foster

Robert W. Foster, 91 of Eaton, Ohio, died Friday, August 9, 2013, at VA Hospice. He was born on November 15, 1921, in Knightstown, son of Herschel & Helen (Risk) Foster. Helen died when Robert was very young.  Herschel, then married  Mable Krames, a widow, and they raised their two families together.

Robert was an Army Air Corps veteran, serving during WW II, with a deployment to Italy.

Robert graduated from Indiana University and started his teaching career in Greenfield, before moving to Yellow Springs, Ohio, and finally to Eaton, Ohio, where he worked in the County Schools office for nine years, before becoming Principal at Dixon Israel Schools, retiring in 1982.

Robert is survived by his wife, Georgia E. Dyer, whom he married March 8, 1946; children, Stuart Foster, Sallie (Dennis) Buckalew, and Mary (Bruce) Holman; seven grandchildren, Robert (Brianne) Foster, Nick, Dan (Mary), and Kate Buckalew, and Noah, George and Helen Holman; great-granddaughters, Chesney Foster and Audrey Buckalew; brothers, Gene Foster and C. Ed Foster; plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George R. and Max S. Foster; and sisters, Doris Carpenter and Norma James.

Visitation was from 12 – 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio. The Funeral Service was immediately following at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Gardner officiating. Interment was held in Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton, Ohio, with Military Honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
