Alma Louise (Martin) Wickard

Alma Louise (Martin) Wickard, died on Saturday, Aug, 10, 2013, at Springhurst Healthcare Campus in Greenfield. Alma was born in Jonesville Ky., on July 25, 1926, to Kenneth E. and Sarah B. (Smith) Martin. She was the first of 3 children.

In 1936 her family moved to Indiana. She graduated from Knightstown High School in 1944. She married William L. Wickard of Greenfield on July 20, 1946, at the Greenfield Christian Church.

Alma had several vocations during her working years. She was a licensed hair dresser for 42 years owning her own shop in their home. She was a Mary Kay Consultant for 10 years and dabbled in acting with TV commercials for HH Gregg and print work for Paper Arts in Indianapolis and Hill-Rom Industries in Batesville, Ind. She also had an acting part in a documentary about a woman that was saved by her dogs in a snowstorm.

Alma was predeceased by her husband of 63 years in 2009; both parents; brother, Robert Martin of Kennard; and grandson, Jeffrey Clayton Sargent.

Surviving her is her son, Dee A. (Jeannette) Wickard of Wilkinson; daughter, Sandy (Garry) Sargent of Greenfield; grandchildren, Chris (Julia) Wickard of Greenfield, Kendra (Steve) Gilbreath of Markleville, David (Leslie) Wickard of Wilkinson and Matthew (Jami) Sargent of Bloomington, Ind.; great-grandchildren, Paige Wickard, Jordyn Wickard, Ryan Wickard, Jacob Wickard, Kolton Gilbreath, Carter Wickard, Joe Sargent and Roger Sargent; brother, Clayton (Lana) Martin of Pendleton; and sister-in-law, Dottie Martin of Kennard.

Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery, Morristown.
