Ruth (Jones) Goodwin
Ruth (Jones) Goodwin, of Carmel, age 96, passed away July 2, 2013, in Carmel surrounded by her family at home. She was born in Straughn, Ind., on December 17, 1916.
Ruth was a graduate of Knightstown High School. She married Lovell Goodwin in 1933. She lived most of her life in the Henry County area and was a retiree of Western Electric. She was a member of the Major Hugh Dinwiddie Chapter of DAR of Knightstown, and St. Marks Methodist Church in Carmel. While living in New Castle, she served as a Deacon at the First Christian Church, a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club, the Shakespeare Clubs, and was also a member and volunteer of the Henry County Library and Historical Society. She is remembered for her many years of service at the Methodist Church Youth Camp at Lake Webster, Ind. She enjoyed her family and years of travel, spanning many continents.
Ruth is survived by her two sons, David and Jerry Goodwin of Indianapolis; daughter, Louise Baldock of Carmel; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Lovell Goodwin; daughter, Electa Mae Goodwin; and her stepson, Dean Goodwin.
Friends my call from 10 – 11 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013, with a funeral service immediately following at 11 a.m. at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory. Pastor Eric Lee will be officiating. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown.
