James Norman Johnson, 69, of Knightstown, earned his wings and entered Heaven on Saturday, June 29, 2013. He was born on Nov. 29,1943, in Metcalf County Ky., as the son of James Courtney and Elizabeth Chaney Johnson. He was married to Jeanette Davis Johnson.

Norman worked as a welder for Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis before retiring in 2007, after 38 years of service. He was a member of the NRA, Central Indiana Blue Grass Friends, Fall Creek Gun Club and the UAW. He enjoyed camping, fishing, bird watching, target shooting, woodworking, and playing his guitar. He loved to garden and was a great cook. He enjoyed reading and scrolling the internet looking at old tractors. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he loved spending time with them. They adored their Papaw and he adored them.

Surviving him are his wife, Jeanette Johnson of Knightstown; children, Jamie (Randy) Rottinghaus of Charlottesville and Chad (Kelly Warner) Johnson of Indianapolis; brother, Donald (Patricia) Johnson of Cave City, Ky. and Kerry Johnson of Horse Cave Ky; six grandchildren, Keagan, Taylor, Kourtney, Andrew, Alexia and Kinzie; special aunt, Montrose Divan of lllinois; and several nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death.

Visitation will be from 3 -7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield, with funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. Reverend Gene Bennett will be officiating.
