Clara J. Bundy (Strubbe)

Clara J. Bundy (Strubbe), 94, of Philadelphia, Ind., went to be with the Lord on Jan. 15, 2013. She was born to the late Edward G. and Mary Flossie Strubbe (Kingery) on March 21, 1918.

Clara Has been a resident of Morristown Manor In Morristown, Ind., for the past 8 years, moving there Jan. 20, 2005. Clara never worked outside the home, she was always there for her children when they returned home from school, etc. She enjoyed working in the yard and garden and canned fruits and vegetables and made ketchup each summer. She loved babies and enjoyed babysitting after her children were grown. She enjoyed baking cakes; wedding, birthday, anniversary, etc.

Clara was a member of the Sugar Creek Fire Department Auxiliary where Scott and 2 of her sons were past members of the Fire Department. She and Scott spent time in Florida every winter with daughter, Joyce Birch. She enjoyed being a member of a Home Ec Club driving herself for many years, then when she was unable to drive, her friend, Joyce Schrieber would pick her up and take her to meetings.

She was very interested in the history of Greenfield and belonged to the Hancock County Historical Society. She took Pictures of all the buildings and surroundings of Greenfield and kept scrapbooks with articles and pictures in them. She loved taking pictures and was always camera ready. She wore out several cameras.

She exhibited baked goods for many years at the State Fair and won many ribbons. She enjoyed sewing and made a lot of her children’s clothing. She made the cheerleading team’s outfits when daughter Barbara was one of the team. She also made Barbara’s wedding dress.

Clara is survived by her daughters, Mary Bundy, Barbara (Joe) Grissom and Joyce Birch. Her sons, John Bundy, Jim Bundy and Jerry (Sandy) Bundy ; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; and 3 great- great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ralph E. and George R. Stubbe.

Clara married Scott Morris Bundy Aug. 14, 1935, who precedes in death, along with her sisters, Ruth Strubbe Miller and Hazel Strubbe White Muir.

Calling will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hendryx Mortuary New Palestine Chapel, Jan. 18, 2013, and funeral service 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013.
