Helen Mae Calloway, 86, of McCordsville, passed away Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Pleasantview Lodge in McCordsville. She was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Red Jacket, W. Va., a daughter of the late Steve and Helen (Sinkavich) Arbarday.

A strong, hard-working, and pleasant mom and grandma, Helen endured many hardships in her life, but always displayed a sweet and calming demeanor, remaining content with the things she had. Helen lived most of her life in West Virginia, among other places, and moved to Indiana the final time about seven years ago.

A homemaker most of her life, she was of the Apostolic faith, and had attended Christian Tabernacle Church in Indianapolis when her health allowed. Helen’s family would like to thank her caregivers for all the wonderful care she received while a resident of Pleasantview Lodge in McCordsville.

She leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Brenda Friend of Indianapolis, Jerry (Linda) Calloway of Beckley, W. Va., and David (Chris) Calloway of Morgantown, Ind.; twenty three grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two step-brothers, Manny Fifo and Frank Fifo; one half sister, Delores Damon.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Calloway in February, 2012; four sons, Carl Jr., Michael, Kelly, and Phillip Calloway; two daughters, Betty Lewis and Judy Kay Calloway.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with the Reverend Kent Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Lawn Cemetery in Fortville. Friends may call from noon – 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
