Peter McComiskey, 67, of Knightstown, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012, at Hancock Regional Hospice in Greenfield. He was born Jan. 31, 1945, in Wareham, Mass., the son of the late Frederick William and Grace (Armitage) McComiskey.
Peter served in the Navy from 1966-1970. He was then employed at New England Telephone Company in Cambridge, Mass. from 1972-1975. He relocated to Indiana where he worked at Motorola in Indianapolis from 1976-1993, then was employed at Meijer in Richmond from 1994, until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of the Pride of Indy Barber Shop Quartet in Indianapolis and American Legion Post #152 in Knightstown.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Beverley McComiskey of Knightstown; daughters, Erin Parks of Fishers, Elayne (Chip) Varner of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sons, Fred (Angie) McComiskey of Fishers, Jeff (Sheila) Hembree of Columbia City, S.C.; daughter-in-law, Robyn Hembree of Kokomo; grandchildren, Brendon Parks of Colorado Springs, Colo., Patrick and Kieran Parks of Fishers, Kyrsten Varner of Colorado Springs, Colo., Erica Hembree of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Brittney, Madison and Grayson Hembree all of Kokomo; one great – grandchild, Cohen Van Osdol of Kokomo; sisters, Ann (Nesbit) Shearouse of Chamblee, Ga., Kathleen (Robert) Cahoon of Dunedin, Fla., Jane (Thomas) Nicholson, and twin sister, Eileen Baker both of Buzzards Bay, Mass.; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Scott Hembree.
Friends may call from 3 – 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the funeral home. Services will be at 11a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel with Rev. Eric Boling officiating. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #152 and an active duty contingent of the US Navy. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery.
