Stuart Bolander, 92, of Fortville, passed away Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, surrounded by his family. He was born May 12, 1920, in Indianapolis, to the late Guy and Mattie (Alford) Bolander.

Stuart was a 1938 graduate of Fortville High School, and then worked as a farmer, and later as a general contractor. Stuart was a member of the Fortville Lions Club, Mt. Vernon Community School Board, Hancock County Farm Bureau and Indiana Farm Bureau. He was also a member of Fortville United Methodist Church, where he was active in the Elderberries (now known as the OWLS) and United Methodist Men.

Stuart is survived by daughters, Mary Beth (Tom) Flanagan and Jane Ann (Dave Garst) Blanton; grandchildren, Kelly (Jerry) Stokesbary, Kimberly (Brendan) Hartnett, Craig (Sara) Blanton and Scott Blanton; six great-grandchildren; and niece, Judy (Max) Griffey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, of 72 years, Helen (Sylvester) Bolander, on Sept. 28, 2012; brother, Floyd A. Bolander; sister, Marthellen Hogue; and great-granddaughter, Claire Blanton.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2012, at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at the Gravel Lawn Cemetery Chapel with calling one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow.
