Russell K. Shepherd, 45, Greenfield, passed away on Sept. 17, 2012, in Greenfield. He was born on Dec. 8, 1966, in Indianapolis and he was the son of Harold K. and Judith G. (Grindley) Shepherd.
Russell graduated from Greenfield Central H.S. in 1985, and earned an Associate’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management from Belleville Community College. He married Joann M. Crist on Nov. 2, 1995, and worked as a marketing rep for Central Restaurant Products for 15 years.
Russell attended Willow Branch UMC and loved reading and studying the Civil War. He enjoyed watching NFL football and supporting the Kenneth Butler Soup Kitchen. Russell was also a United States Air Force veteran who served two tours overseas, Sardinia, Italy, and Desert Storm.
Surviving him are his wife, Joann M. Shepherd of Greenfield; son, Keith M. Shepherd of O’Fallon, Ill.; daughter, Samantha K. Shepherd of Greenfield; stepson, Charles Maybee of Mich.; stepsister, Carolyn Sue Powers of N.M.; stepbrothers, William K. Shepherd and John R. Shepherd, both of N.C.; several nieces and nephews; mother and father-in-law, Joe and Judy Crist; and brother-in-law, Michael Crist.
Preceding him in death was his father.
Funeral services will take place on Friday, September 21, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Visitation will take place from noon until the time of the service. Pastor Adam Payne will be officiating and burial will take place at Mendon Cemetery in Pendleton.
