Dorothy Violet Johnson, 82, of Greenfield, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 9, 2012, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. She was born on July 10, 1929, in Jamestown, Tenn., the daughter of Lindsey and Lucy (Marsh) Davis.

Dorothy was the loving wife of Zelmar Johnson whom she married on Oct. 15, 1948.

She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Dorothy always put God first in her life followed by her family. She loved her church, the Knightstown Church of God and had been a member for 55 years.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband of 63 years, Zelmar Johnson of Greenfield; children, Carol (Michael) Colclazier of Knightstown, Mike (Carol) Johnson of New Castle, Mark (Kim) Johnson of Knightstown, Sandy (Mike) Snodgrass of Greenfield; grandchildren, Beth Stone of Knightstown, Danny Johnson of Knightstown, Rachel Johnson of Knightstown, Dustin Snodgrass of Greenfield, Krista Snodgrass of Greenfield, Michaela Johnson of New Castle; great grandchildren, Hannah Colclazier, Kendra Stone, Chasity Vaughn, Macy Colclazier; two great-great grandchildren, Toni and Harmony Richie; a brother, Harold (Wilma) Davis of Markleville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Colclazier; sisters, Flonnie Ellis, Bonnie Davis, Beulah Mellen; and a brother, Howard Davis.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Services will be at noon on Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2012, at the funeral home with Reverends Early Hall, Elwood Evans and Tim Hensley officiating. Burial will follow in Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
