Mildred J. Jones, 82, of Fortville, passed away on Jan. 19, 2012, in Greenfield. Born on June 4, 1929, in Indianapolis. She was the daughter of Francis and Lula (Beyers) Pressly.
Mildred graduated from Lawrence High School in 1947 and married George W. Jones on Oct. 23, 1949. Mildred worked as a bus driver for a total of 30 years for Mt. Vernon, Lawrence Central, and Knightstown school systems. She had also previously worked at McDonald’s and Wendy’s in Greenfield and at Pioneer Seed Company in Rushville. Mildred was a member of Wilkinson Church of Christ. She enjoyed sewing and conversation with friends and family.
Surviving her are her children, Gary (Donita) Jones of New Palestine, Tim (Paulette) Jones of Pompano Beach, Fla., George (Vicki) Jones of Carthage, John (Kelly) Jones of Knightstown, Bonnie Heim of Fortville, and Darla (Dave) White of Greenfield; several nieces and nephews; 18 grandchildren; and 31 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, George; parents, Francis and Lula; brother, Robert Pressly; and sister, Roberta Craig.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Monday, Jan. 23, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the mortuary. Burial will take place at Memorial Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
