Roy O. Hibray, Jr., age 84, of Greenfield, passed away on Dec. 27, 2011, at Golden Living Center- Brandywine in Greenfield. Born on Jan. 25, 1928, in Martin, S.D., he was the son of Roy O. and Anna (Kline) Hibray. Roy married Frances M. Locke on June 10, 1951, and earned his bachelor’s degree from Montana State University in 1953. He worked as a soil conservationist for the Department of Agriculture for over 35 years before retiring.

Roy was a 50 year member of the Greenfield Rotary Club and was a rotary fellow. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Greenfield where he served as an elder, deacon, and choir member. Roy was formerly a Boy Scout leader and loved reading and traveling. He was also involved with 4-H of Hancock County as a judge for the soil division. Mr. Hibray was a United States Army/Air Corps veteran who served from 1946-1949.

Surviving him are his wife, Frances M. Locke Hibray of Greenfield; daughters, Julie (Frank) Chandler, and Lisa F. (Larry Andis) Erickson, both of Greenfield; sisters, Wilburta Ogden of Wisc., and Lola Hartwick of Ore.; brother, Art Hibray of Iowa; grandchildren, Sara (Donnie) Houk of Cranberry Township, Penn., Emily Chandler of Pendleton, and Laura Chandler of Greenfield; and one great-granddaughter, Katelyn Elizabeth Houk.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and a son, Wayne A. Hibray.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Pastor John Paulson will be officiating and burial will take place at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
