Harold L. Jones, 82 of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield. He was born Dec. 16, 1929 in Shirley, Ind., and is the son of the late Grover and Zora (Van Duyn) Jones.
He retired from Eli Lilly & Company in Greenfield in 1989 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the American Legion Post #119 of Greenfield. He was an avid IU basketball fan, enjoyed fishing and basket making.
Survivors include a daughter, Jill (Lewis) Ebbert of Greenfield; a granddaughter, Amanda Ebbert of Seattle, Wash.; a brother, Richard Jones of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. (Hagman) Jones in Dec. 2009; four brothers, Max, Bob, Dale and Cleo Jones; and a sister, Ruth Strough.
Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 at St Michael’s Catholic Church in Greenfield with Father Bill Stumpf officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. prior to service. Burial will follow with Military Graveside Rites provided by Post #119 at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
