George Edward Harvey, age 72, of New Palestine, passed away on Friday, Nov. 11, 2011. Born on Dec. 5, 1938, in Monon, Ind., he was the son of Lawrence L. and Dorothy A. (Gross) Harvey.

George graduated from Monon High School in 1957 and married Josephine Marie Berry on Dec. 20, 1959, in Lafayette. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Purdue University in 1961 and a Master’s degree from Ball State. George worked for Marion Community Schools as a teacher for many years. Additionally, he worked for Walter Scholar & Associates as a draftsman for five years. He loved running, hunting, fishing, and camping.

Surviving him are his wife, Josephine Marie Harvey of New Palestine; son, Brian D. (Joetta) Harvey of Indianapolis; daughter, Sheri L. (David) Moeller of New Palestine; brother, Harold Harvey of Monon, Ind.; sisters, Marjorie Barner of Lafayette, Esther Mohler of Monon, Ind., and Mary Ann Tyler of Monticello, Ind.; grandchildren, Luke, Rebekah, and Lydia Harvey, and Alec, Grant, and Mitch Moeller; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Richard Harvey.

 Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov, 13, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, at the mortuary. Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at Bedford Cemetery in Monticello, Ind.
