Robert F. Bever, age 89, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at Country Home Health Care in Charlottesville, Ind. Born on Feb. 23, 1922, in Hancock County, he was the son of Willard and Flora (Hill) Bever.
Robert married Jessie Clifford on June 8, 1946. Robert retired from Iron Workers Local Union #22. He was a farmer, Central Swallow Bus Line driver, and trained and raced horses. He belonged to the Standardbred Trotting Association for many years. He attended the Charlottesville United Methodist Church. Mr. Bever was also a United States Army veteran.
Surviving him are his wife of 65 years, Jessie Bever of Charlottesville; children, Sandra (D.B.) Bowman and Robert E. (Pam) Bever both of Charlottesville; and grandchildren, Robbie (Stacey) Bowman, Darren (Michelle) Bowman, Jason (Denise) Bever, and Heather Bever; great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Keegan Bowman, Madison and Megan Bever, and Dylan and Gavin Bowman; sisters, Betty Duhamell of Greenfield and Ann Dickerson of Shirley; and brother, Gale Bever of New Ross, Ind.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Steven DeWayne Bever; and siblings, Edward Bever, Mary Hiday, Leonard Bever, Lee Bever, and Charlie Bever.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at the mortuary. Burial will take place at Park Cemetery.
