Georgia Speer, age 86, of Greenfield, formerly of Rushville, Ind., passed away on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2011, at the Methodist Yellow Rose Hospice in Indianapolis. She was born on July 29, 1925, to the late Ozias and Bessie (Reeve) Gwinnup.
Georgia was married to Thomas E. Speer on July 6, 1946, until his death on April 30, 1987. She was a homemaker who loved her family and she was a member of the VFW Auxiliary for many years.
Those left to celebrate Georgia’s memory include her son Thomas L. Speer of Greenfield; grandchildren, Aimee Herbert, Mariah Graham, Joni Harrison, and Megan Harrison; and eight great grandchildren. Also remembering Georgia is companion Robert Halgarth of Greenfield.
Georgia was preceded in death by her brother George Gwinnup; and half sister Vivian “Lou” Floyd.
Friends may visit from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011 at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville, Ind. A Celebration of Life for Georgia will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1, 2011, with Rev. Charles Justice officiating. Burial next to Tom will follow at Hopewell Cemetery.
