Edward Wayne Farthing, age 79, of New Palestine, passed away July 18, 2011. The son of William Price Farthing and Alma Walton Farthing Johnson, Edward was born May 20, 1932 in Irvine, Ky.
A Korean War veteran, Edward served in the U.S. Marine Corps. A retired truck driver, he retired in 1994 after 30 years of service with Yellow Freight Lines and previously with Griffith Motor Express. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Teamsters Local #135 and the NRA.
Services will be Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 6513 West 300 South, New Palestine, where friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow services in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce A. Castleman Farthing; son, William Farthing; daughters, Nancy (Matt) Carrico, Marlene Haynes, Sandra (Paul) Tweedy, Deanne Farthing and Karen Sturgill; sisters, Marie Froste, Brenda Moberly and Cletha Richardson; brother, Jimmy Farthing; 14 grandchildren; one great grandson.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Bessie Gibson and brothers, Raymond and James G. Farthing.
