Gary Leslie Smith, age 57, of Pendleton, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Feb. 12, 2011, at I.U. Medical Center in Indianapolis. He was born on July 28, 1953 in Anderson, the son of Leslie D. Smith and the late Lorraine (Harsin) Smith. He resided in Pendleton for over 30 years.
He served his country in the US Air Force from 1972-1976, stationed at Hurlburt Field, Fla. Gary was a Welder/Machinist at Major Tool & Machine in Indianapolis for more than 30 years. He was a lifelong member of Bethany Christian Church, was an avid sports fan, fisherman and carpenter.
He leaves behind many memories with his wife of 38 years, Judith (Reed) Smith; daughters, Rebecca Ann (Brock) Findlay of Pendleton, and Beth Ann (Shaun) Williams of Pendleton; two grandchildren, Eliza Grace Findlay,Hunter Reece Findlay and an expected arrival of a third grandchild, Ella Williams; sisters, Sharon (James) Reed of Carmel and Dianne (Robert) Duffee of Owatonna, Minn.; several aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and cousins.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Memorial Park Cemetery; with Kent Stookey officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites by the VFW #266.
