James D. “Gibby” Gibbs, 62, of Columbus, a native of Shelbyville, died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. Born in Shelbyville on Jan. 23, 1948, Mr. Gibbs was the son of Paul William and Jessie Crossley Gibbs.
Survivors include his wife, Sally R. (Eddy) Gibbs; daughters, Christy Pugsley and Tamara Gibbs both of Columbus; two grandsons; two great-granddaughters; sisters, Donna VanDuyn of Shelbyville and Sue Anderson of Greenfield; brothers, Robert Gibbs of Greenfield and Fred (Linda) Gibbs of Shelbyville; hismother-in-law, Barbara Eddy of Columbus; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Mr. Gibbs was preceded in death by his parents; and his father-in-law, Ray Eddy.
Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, and from noon until service time Monday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home, 1029 Washington Street, Columbus, Ind. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, with the Rev. Jerald E. Turner officiating. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus.
