FORTVILLE — Mt. Vernon is putting together its winning streak at the right time.
NEW CASTLE — There was good and bad on offense, and good and bad on defense, but in the area that mattered — the scoreboard — Greenfield-Central came out on top.
LAPEL — Eastern Hancock’s football team wrapped up its regular season with a 36-31 loss at Lapel Friday.

HANCOCK COUNTY — It’s a chance to gain momentum heading to postseason.
GREENFIELD — Greenfield resident James Moore always had a dream to bring the sport of jiu-jitsu to Hancock County.
PENDLETON — After a New Palestine win in the first of two quarterfinal matches Tuesday night, the other two Hancock County schools in IHSAA Class 4A Sectional 9 at Pendleton Heights — Mt. Vernon and Greenfield-Central — met to see who would make up the other half of Saturday’s semifinal.
PENDLETON — Postseason sports are about surviving and advancing.
HANCOCK COUNTY — With five of eight teams in Class 4A Sectional 22 coming from the Hoosier Heritage Conference, it was inevitable the IHSAA high school football pairings, released Sunday, would have rematches and potential rematches set up when the postseason gets underway Friday, Oct. 20.
