GREENFIELD
Michael G. Kitchens, age 74, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at Arlington Place Health Campus. Born in Indianapolis, on May 3, 1949, he was the son of Garry Kitchens and Carolyn (Drake) Kitchens. He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School in 1967. Following high school, he served in the United States Army from 1968 until 1970. On August 12, 1971, Michael married Peggy (Baldwin) in Nashville, Tennessee.
Before retiring in 2001, he worked as a machinist for International Harvester, now known as Navistar. Michael enjoyed spending lots of time on his old family farm. He loved hunting, fishing and going to the beach. He also liked watching NASCAR and going on cruises.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Peggy Kitchens of Greenfield; mother-in-law, Martha Baldwin; brother-in-law, Harry “Ferdie” Baldwin (Peggy); sisters-in-law, Terri Baldwin and Kim Keppel; nieces, Chloe and Deanna; and nephews, Corey and Carey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garry and Carolyn; son, Brian Kitchens; sister, Cindy Grismore; and brother-in-law, Bruce Baldwin.
Visitation and funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Stephen Elmer officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
