Why are you running for office?

Running for second term as 4th District Cumberland Town Council. I have been part of a lot of great work and accomplishments undertaken by the council in the past four years, and wish to continue that work and be part of the growth and projects that are planned for this community. I am very vested in continuing to serve the community and assist with meeting their needs.

How are you qualified?

Current town councilor for four years, and member of the town police commission for five years prior to that, in addition to being a past member of the redevelopment commission. I have 35+ years experience in law enforcement and leadership. My education includes a bachelor’s, MBA and Ph.D. all in business.

What are the most pressing issues facing Cumberland?

Strategic and smart infrastructure growth including attention to storm water, wastewater, and public safety. In addition, Cumberland is known for its trail system and parks. Following the parks master plan, continued growth and update in these amenities is essential.

How can the town responsibly handle the growth it’s experiencing?

Growth must be strategic and SMART – we want to provide growth in housing for the growing community, as well as attracting desired commercial growth to provide access to amenities, family appropriate entertainment (i.e. the growth of the trails, and community events), growth in tax base and revenue streams – but in a SMART progression that will allow us to maintain our small town and residential feel. We also continue work on building and strengthening our police department, to keep Cumberland a safe town to live and raise kids.
