“Wild” exhibit this month at gallery

GREENFIELD – “Into the Wild” exhibits animal artwork by local artists this month at the Twenty North Gallery.

The gallery at 20 N. State St., Greenfield, is free and open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. For more, visit hancockcountyarts.org.

Auditions coming up for “Play On!”

GREENFIELD – Auditions for the CrazyLake Acting Company’s production of “Play On!” is coming up this weekend.

Auditions will be 6-8:30 p.m. March 19 and March 21, with callbacks on March 22. Auditions will be in “the dungeon” at the Hancock County Memorial Building, 98 E. North St, Greenfield.

The show is a play within a play, as a theater group tries desperately to put on a play despite attempts from the playwright to keep revising the script. Parts are available for three males and seven females, aged high school through adult. Performance dates are June 23 through July 2. “James and the Giant Peach” coming to stage

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Eastern Hancock Drama Club will perform “James and the Giant Peach” in April at the high school’s auditorium. The play is based on the book by Roald Dahl.

Show times are 7 p.m. April 14, 7 p.m. April 15 and 2 p.m. April 16. Tickets are $12 at the door.

Kara Cole to open for Oak Ridge Boys

GREENFIELD – Local musician Kara Cole will be the opening act for the Oak Ridge Boys at the Palladium in Carmel March 17.

The singer/songwriter describes her music as Americana/folk and country. Her latest video “Mary Francis” is dedicated to her grandmother, who passed away in September and had battled dementia for years; Cole was one of her caretakers. Cole is also the manager of the Talitha Koum Women’s Recovery House in Greenfield.

Hip hop classes to benefit local organization

GREENFIELD – A new community hip hop class is starting up as a fundraiser for a local organization.

The Hancock County FOP is hosting a hip hop class each Tuesday at 6 p.m. Cost is $10 per class, with proceeds going toward the FOP kitchen remodeling fund.

DIY doormat art class set

GREENFIELD – Create a doormat in a spring paint night hosted by Greenfield Parks and Recreation Art Studio.

The $35 event includes light refreshments and all the materials and instruction needed to create a springtime doormat. Choose from one of six designs, such as “Bee Happy,” “Bloom where you are Planted,” or “Welcome Peeps.” The event is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. March 24 in the lower level of the Patricia Elmore Center, 280 N.
