HANCOCK COUNTY — An Indianapolis woman facing felony drug crimes stemming from an incident in July 2019 had her case settled late last week in Hancock County Circuit Court via a plea agreement.

Ashley Marie Farmer, 27, was originally charged with a Level 3 felony Count of dealing methamphetamine and two different Level 4 felony counts of dealing methamphetamine following a sting operation in the summer and fall of 2019.

Farmer was originally arrested in December 2020 with the most serious count against her carrying a sentence of up to 16 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

According to court documents, Farmer admitted guilt to one of the Level 4 felony counts of dealing methamphetamine and was given a six-year term with the court determining Farmer to be approved for transfer to Behavioral Health Court where she will serve her sentence.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officials from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department conducted a narcotics operation between July 1 and September 2019. That’s when a confidential informant purchased methamphetamine from Farmer on multiple occasions, the affidavit said. Some quantities purchased weighed between 1 and 5 grams; on one of the buys, the meth weighed between 5 and 10 grams, according to the affidavit.
