Local movie to benefit animal group

GREENFIELD – A local movie theater will donate a portion of sales of a movie to a Hancock County animal group.

Independent feature film “The Year of the Dog” will be shown at Legacy 9 Cinema in Greenfield Feb. 24. According to a press release, a portion ticket sale net profits will be donated to the Hancock County Humane Society.

MV band program to host mattress fundraiser

FORTVILLE – The Mt. Vernon High School band program will host a mattress fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 26 at the high school cafeteria.

Local artists to participate in Motown concert

GREENFIELD – A concert celebrating music from the 1960s will come to downtown Greenfield this weekend.

“Motown Forever” by Indianapolis soul band Frederic and Ronza will feature participation with local singers and dancers. Hear music from artists such as the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, the Jackson 5, Gladys Knight and the Pips, Smokey Robinson and original music. Local singers will join the choir and dancers from Wilkerson Dance Studio will also take the stage.

The show is at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St., Greenfield. Tickets are at fredericandronza.com/tickets.

Family game event set in New Pal

NEW PALESTINE – Families with children in grades 5 and younger are invited to play games together at an upcoming event in New Palestine.

Family Game Night will be at 5 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Sugar Creek Branch of the Hancock County Public Library, 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine. The library has board and card games, and families are welcome to try those or bring one of their own.
