The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection reports.

Nov. 3

Pilot Travel Center

Violations found: NC, R – plumbing under three-compartment sink does not adequately convey waste water to floor drain, causing waste water to run out and splash on floor of surrounding area, to be corrected by Nov. 18; NC – debris build-up on legs and lower shelves of tables in kitchen, to be corrected by Nov. 18; NC – no covered receptacle in women’s restroom for sanitary napkins, to be corrected by Nov. 18.

Violations found: C – spray bottles with chemical are not marked with common name, corrected; C – could not detect sanitizer at dish machine in tasting area, need to provide test strips; NC – need to provide soap at hand sink in downstairs kitchen, corrected; NC – need to provide paper towels at hand sink in downstairs kitchen, corrected; C – date mark ready to eat lunch meat longer than seven days, corrected; C – plastic cup in cheese being hot held that may have melted leaving plastic in cheese, corrected; NC – dish machine upstairs needs to get to 120 degrees at wash cycle, to be corrected by Nov. 16; NC – corner casing on wall by hand sink needs repaired or replaced, to be corrected by Nov. 16.
