County’s unemployment rate holds steady

HANCOCK COUNTY — The county’s preliminary unemployment rate for November was 2.4%, according to information from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development. Hancock County was ranked No. 67 out of 92 counties in unemployment for November. The rate was the same as it was in October, but higher than it was a year ago. In November 2021 Hancock County’s unemployment rate was 1.6%.

The state average, non-seasonally adjusted rate was 2.8% for November. Compared to neighboring counties, Hancock was below Marion, Madison and Henry counties that had rates ranging from 2.9 – 3.1%. It was steady with Hamilton, Shelby and Rush counties, which had unemployment rates ranging from 2.1 to 2.4%.

Credit union offers Dragons debit card

NEW PALESTINE – Indiana Members Credit Union (IMCU) recently presented a check for $1,500 to New Palestine Schools as part of an ongoing school spirit debit card program and sponsorship. The partnership allows New Palestine fans to show their school spirit and support the athletic program by signing up for a New Palestine Dragons themed debit card. Every time the card is used as a signature-based transaction, New Palestine athletics benefits. The more cards that are in use, the larger the contribution. Since beginning the program in 2018, New Palestine High School has earned $6,000 through this IMCU giveback program.

The card is available for issue to members at the IMCU Eastside Branch, 95 S. Mitthoeffer Road, as well as IMCU’s other 31 Central Indiana locations.
