Marauders win dual at Delta

Mt. Vernon won eight of 12 events and defeated host Delta 104-76 in a boys swimming and diving dual on Thursday.

The Marauders won two of three relays and took top honors in six other individual events.

Camden Cave, Matthew Garey and Brady Gray each won two individual events.

Cave, finishing .03 seconds quicker than his seed time, won the 100-yard butterfly in 56.70 seconds. Again eclipsing his seeded time, Cave won the 100 breaststroke in 1:03.32.

Garey won the 200 IM (2:03.80) and 500 freestyle (5:20.92).

Gray touched first in the 50 freestyle (21.97 seconds) and 100 freestyle (48.95).

Garey, Cave, Gray and Ethan Murphy made up the winning 200 medley relay team, finishing in 1:42.67. The same group, but in different order (Gray, Murphy, Garey, Cave) won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:30.65.

The Marauders are back in action today at Pike.

EH defeated by LC, Poly

Eastern Hancock’s boys swimming team lost to Purdue Poly and Lawrence Central Thursday at the EH pool.

Against Purdue Poly, the Royals lost 65-60. Against the Bears, EH was defeated 78-49.

Eastern Hancock is back in action Tuesday competing with Guerin Catholic at North Central High School in Indianapolis.

Girls swimming

Mt. Vernon defeated at Delta

Mt. Vernon’s girls swimming and diving team lost 113-73 at Delta Thursday.

The Marauders won two events. Calista Smith knocked off over one second from her seed time, winning the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:16.27. She was seeded with a time of 1:18.64.

Mt. Vernon’s Riley Nielsen won the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 207.95, five points more than her seed total of 202.55 points.

The Marauders are back in action today at Pike.

Royals sweep swim meet

Eastern Hancock’s girls swimming team picked up two wins at the EH pool on Thursday.

The Royals defeated Purdue Poly 78-6 and downed Lawrence Central 75-19.

The girls are 5-3 in duals this season.

On Tuesday, they will travel to North Central to take on the Panthers and Guerin Catholic.
