Tri Kappa scholarships available

GREENFIELD – Tri Kappa, a local service sorority, is seeking applicants for state scholarships to be awarded for the 2023-24 school year.

The student must be a college sophomore, junior or senior in an accredited baccalaureate or graduate program to apply. A student with interrupted studies of at least five years but enrolled for 2023-24 may also apply. Past recipients may also request an application.

There are three different scholarships available: an academic scholarship; a fine arts scholarship for those majoring in dance, drama, music or art; and a scholarship for those wishing to teach music.

Current college students can request an application by emailing Heather Seib at [email protected]. The application must be completed and returned by Jan. 31, 2023.

Career center to host open houses

NEW CASTLE – The New Castle Career Center will host open house sessions for current sophomore and junior students. These sessions will serve as an opportunity for students and families to visit prospective programs and speak with the current instructors and students.

The open house sessions will be 6:30-8 p.m. Dec. 7 and Jan. 27. Students may visit any of the 17 programs offered by the New Castle Career Center. The Broadcasting Program session will be at Knightstown High School; Health Careers will be at Danielson Center, 300 Trojan Lane; EMT will held at 432 Broad St.; Building Trades will be at their building site, 104 Winchester Drive; the remaining programs will be at New Castle High School, 801 Parkview Drive, New Castle.

Pie auction to raise money or classrooms

CHARLOTTESVILLE – The Eastern Hancock Educator’s Foundation will raise funds for annual teacher and classroom grants at a EHEF Pie Auction Jan. 14 during the home varsity game. The foundation will accept donations of baked goods, homemade pies, candy, craft/homemade items, themed baskets or gift cards for the silent auction. Dani’s Dreams hosts butterfly shirt fundraiser

NEW PALESTINE – Dani’s Dreams, a nonprofit organization for environmental education, is hosting a monarch butterfly T-shirt and hoodie sale. The shirt was designed by eighth-grade student Maddux Tindall; proceeds for the sale help raise funds to save monarch butterflies.
