Volunteers sought for weed wrangle

GREENFIELD – A weed wrangle is set for Dec. 3, helping eradicate an invasive species of Asian Bush Honeysuckle.

The plant keeps native plants from growing, and volunteers are asked to join the weed wrangle to learn how to remove the plant.

The event is 9-11 a.m. Dec. 3 at the Brandywine Trail Connector, along the Pennsy Trail and Brandywine Park. Enter at Davis Road at the park; the group will meet at the edge of the parking lot and walk to the woods entrance.

Wear work clothes and bring gloves and tools, such as pruning shears and loppers. The Asian Bush Honeysuckle is managed by cutting and doing cut stump treatments with herbicide. Instruction and demonstration will be provided. For details call the Purdue Extension Hancock County at 317-462-1113 or visit sicim.info/weed-wrangle-indiana.
