Market to benefit Hope Center Indy

INDIANAPOLIS – Hope Center Indy, located near New Palestine, is hosting a Gather Hope Christmas Gift Market 3-8 p.m. Dec. 10.

The market is free and includes vendors and Christmas lights decorating the Blooming Hope Greenhouse, 11850 Brookville Road, Indianapolis. Donations will be accepted for Hope Center Indy, which offers residential care for women overcoming sex trafficking, sexual exploitation and addictions. For more, visit hopecenterindy.org.

Cumberland holiday activities scheduled

CUMBERLAND – Cumberland’s annual holiday celebration “Weihnachsmarkt” is scheduled for Dec. 3 with family-friendly, free events.

The day begins at 11 a.m. with a juried artisan vendor tent, followed by musical guests Marionettes & Magic. From noon to 4 p.m. are carriage rides with Vogt Farms, and from noon to 5 p.m. is Santa and Mrs. Claus at St. Nicholas House; free balloon art and face painting in the entertainment tent. There will also be a reindeer obstacle course for children, holiday music with local choirs, a tuba quartet, live reindeer, carolers and even an Abe Lincoln actor roaming East Washington Street, talking about the Lincoln death train that rolled through what is now the Pennsy Trail.

A light parade begins at 6 p.m. followed by a tree lighting and live entertainment by The Bishops. Food and drink trucks will be on site. Parking is available on the east end of the Meijer parking lot; handicapped parking is available at Cumberland Town Hall, 11501 E. Washington St.

McCordsville Town Hall has Giving Tree project

MCCORDSVILLE – Local residents are invited to visit McCordsville Town Hall and pick out an ornament from the McCordsville Giving Tree to help a neighbor or child in need. Holiday wishes will be listed on the ornament; purchase the item listed and bring them back to town hall by Dec. 12 so gifts can be distributed to the corresponding child or family. McCordsville Town Hall is located at 6280 W. 800N., McCordsville.
