Thanksgiving dinner set in Fortville

FORTVILLE — Blazer 88 Foundation plans to serve a traditional Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday 24 at Fortville Church of the Nazarene.

The foundation seeks to honor the late Charles “Chuck” Theobald IV’s legacy of helping fellow veterans.

The Thanksgiving dinner is available to veterans and non-veterans alike. It’s not a fundraiser; organizers say it’s simply meant to offer community and also build awareness of the organization and its work.

“We’re hoping anyone who’s in need … anyone who feels they don’t have a place to go on Thanksgiving … anyone who doesn’t have money to do a big Thanksgiving meal” will feel welcome and come, said Tiffany Ward, who with husband Josh is organizing the dinner. “The expectation is just for people to show up.”

Community Thanksgiving service is Nov. 20

SHIRLEY — Community Ministerial Alliance, a group of Shirley-area churches, will have a community Thanksgiving service at 6 p.m. Sunday at Grant City Wesleyan Church, 4387 S. Grant City Road.

Tony Darling, pastor of Wilkinson Church of Christ, will be the speaker.

The Community Ministerial Alliance sponsors the annual service.

The group typically rotates locations for these community services. Pastors from the churches involved take turns delivering the sermon. Other churches often offer some other part of the service, such as a song or a poem.

Participating churches are Christ Fellowship Church, Grant City Wesleyan Church, Shirley Friends Church, Shirley Church of the Nazarene, Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church, Warrington Church of the Nazarene and Wilkinson Church of Christ. You do not have to attend one of those churches to go to the service.
