HANCOCK COUNTY — The operator of the motor-scooter who died in Tuesday’s early-morning crash was Michael Nichols, 36, originally from Muncie. He was currently living in Greenfield and was on his way to work when he was involved in the accident just south of McCordsville, officials from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said. The crash was located on the North 400W bridge over I-70. Deputies arrived on scene and called for the Hancock County Fatal Accident Crash Team (F.A.C.Team) to respond because of the severity of the crash.
