4-H open house Oct. 23

GREENFIELD – Learn about joining 4-H in an open house event from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Hancock County 4-H Fairgrounds, 620 Apple St.

The 4-H program is for youth in third grade through 12th grade; Mini 4-H is for youth in kindergarten through second grade. Participants gain knowledge and experiences in project areas of their choosing, gaining youth leadership, citizenship and cooperative skills, according to an event flier from Hancock County Purdue Extension. Owl program set at nature camp

GREENFIELD – Learn about the world of owls in a family-friendly nature program Nov. 19 at Nameless Creek Camp.

“Take Flight – Wildlife Education” is geared for elementary-aged children but all are welcome. Families will hear a story, create a nature craft and see a live owl up close. The event is 1-3 p.m. Nov. 19. Cost is $15 for one registrant; $25 for two; $35 for three; and $50 for four or more.

Trunk or Treat participants sought

MCCORDSVILLE – The Town of McCordsville is seeking participants for a Trunk or Treat event, scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25 in the Outlook Christian Church parking lot, 6531 N. 600W., McCordsville.

Individuals or businesses are asked to arrive at 2 p.m. and park and decorate their trunk for a decorating contest. Vehicles must be decorated and ready to hand out candy by 3 p.m., and remain parked at the event until 5 p.m. Registration forms may be picked up at town hall, 6280 W. 800N., McCordsville;at mccordsville.org; or through email, [email protected].

Brass choir concert to benefit Love INC

GREENFIELD – The Indianapolis Brass Choir will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16 in a benefit event for Love in the Name of Christ of Greater Hancock County. Admission is free; a good will offering will be collected. The event is at Park Chapel Christian Church, 1176 E. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

Medicare 101 events set

GREENFIELD – Learn the basics of choosing a Medicare plan in one of the upcoming Medicare 101 events hosted by the Hancock County Public Library.

Kit Paternoster, a counselor with the State Health Insurance Assistance Program, will teach on the open enrollment process, which happens annually from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7 for people turning 65. The workshop is at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 10 and 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17 at the main branch of the HCPL in Greenfield. A workshop is also set for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Sugar Creek branch in New Palestine. WHW registration deadline approaching

GREENFIELD – The 24th annual Women Helping Women celebration is scheduled for 5 p.m. Oct. 27 at Adaggios Banquet Hall, 5999 W. Memory Lane, Greenfield. The annual breast cancer awareness event raises funds through the Hancock Health Foundation to provide health care, education and support services for under and uninsured women.
