Freshmen Sierra Holverson and Alivia Morgan had 12 and 10 kills, respectively in Mt. Vernon’s 3-0 victory over visiting Triton Central (15-4) Wednesday.

The Marauders won by set scores of 25-17, 25-14, 25-20.

Mt. Vernon (8-14) got eight kills and three blocks from Sophia Damer. Holverson also had two service aces.

Libby Gee-Weiler led the defense with 25 digs. Aubry Dowling had 11. Setter Ava Whitmore had 36 assists and nine digs.

Mt. Vernon was scheduled to play host to Lawrence North Thursday. They travel to Fishers Tuesday.

Eastern continues winning way

With a 3-0 victory at Tri, Eastern Hancock won its seventh straight match and improved to 13-9 on the season.

The Royals won by set scores of 25-17, 25-14, 25-7.

They were scheduled to be back in action Thursday against Monroe Central and will host the Eastern Hancock Invitational Saturday, which includes matches against Beech Grove, Indian Creek and Southwood.

Cougars fall to state-ranked Yorktown

Against Class 4A No. 3 Yorktown, Greenfield-Central lost 3-0 at G-C Wednesday.

The Cougars lost by set scores of 25-14, 25-8, 25-19.

Greenfield-Central dropped to 7-10 overall and 1-5 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference. League-leading Yorktown improved to 19-2 and 6-0.

The Cougars host the Cougar Challenge Saturday and have matches with Warren Central and Edinburgh.

Royals improve to 11-1

Eastern Hancock won all three matches played in a 5-0 shutout victory against visiting Anderson Wednesday.

The Indians only had three players. The Royals won both doubles matches by forfeit.

All three singles players, Zeke Dixon, Luke Fletcher and Luke Schilling won by 6-0, 6-0 scores.

Eastern Hancock is 11-1 on the season and was scheduled to host Knightstown Thursday and the Eastern Hancock Invitational on Saturday.
