Churches to pack 80,000 meals for Ukraine
MT. COMFORT — Several area churches will come together Oct. 1 at Mt. Comfort Church to help pack meals that will be sent to Ukraine. The goal is to pack 80,000 meals.
Volunteers can serve to work in assembly line fashion, packaging meals, from 9-11 a.m. that day or from noon-2 p.m. Or they can register to help with setup or cleanup.
Other participating churches include Gateway Community Church in Fortville and New Palestine United Methodist Church, but volunteering at the event is open to anyone.

Fortville churches plan community night of worship
FORTVILLE — Leaders of Fortville Christians Unite, a group of Fortville-area churches collaborating on shared service and worship opportunities, have planned an community evening of worship at 5 p.m. Sunday, outdoors at Landmark Park, 216 E. Staat St., Fortville.
The service runs from 5-6 p.m. Worshipers should bring lawn chairs. Musicians from various churches will lead worship.
An after party from 6-7 will feature bounce houses, ice cream, games for youth groups from various churches, and time to eat a bring-your-own picnic or buy food from several food trucks present.
New Palestine church marks anniversary
NEW PALESTINE — New Palestine Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) will play host to its 152-year celebration from 1-4 p.m. Saturday (Sept. 17).
The event features lunch at 1 p.m., music, a video about the church’s history, and more.

Open house to honor retiring daycare director
GREENFIELD — A community open house will celebrate the retirement of Noah’s Ark Daycare director “Miss Jodie” Fuller. It’s set for 1-3 p.m. Sept. 25 at Calvary Baptist Church, 1450 W. Main St., Greenfield.
Fuller was the founder and only director the last 28 years. Her daughter Nikki Boyette has been installed as her replacement.
Revival services set
CHARLOTTESVILLE — Charlottesville Friends Church will have revival services Sept. 25-30.
Guest speaker will be Dr. Vic Reasoner of Francis Asbury Society.
Services on Sept. begin at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m.
Services Sept. 26-30 begin at 7 p.m. daily.

Preschool offers Germanfest
GREENFIELD — Faith Lutheran Preschool’s Germanfest is Sept. 24.
Dinner will be served in drive-thru fashion from 4-7:30 p.m. at the church, 200 W. McKenzie. Proceeds benefit the preschool.
Mission Celebration set for Sunday
GREENFIELD — Mission Celebration is an annual event to highlight ministry happening locally and globally. The congregation of Trinity Park United Methodist Church commits each year to Faith Promise giving to support the various types of work. Anyone interested in hearing the mission updates, though, is welcome to attend. The church is located at 207 W. Park Ave.
Services are at 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. Sunday, with keynote speaker Ken Vance, missionary to Zambia. Children ages 3 and older meet in Room 10 with Crystal Baker along with John and Beth Muehlheisen and Lazarus.
At 10 a.m., the Muehlheisens will speak to the church’s Faith Groups. They have served as missionaries in Kenya and Uganda, and John is now vice president of global strategy and training for World Gospel Mission in Marion.
The services will also feature music by Indiana Wesleyan University Praise Team.

Fashion show to aid children’s ministries
GREENFIELD — World Renewal International will sponsor a fashion show at 3 p.m. Oct. 2 at Cynthia’s Hallmark to benefit children’s ministries.
World Renewal, with headquarters in Hancock County, “is an independent interdenominational global ministry empowering local indigenous leaders to fulfill the Great Commission,” according to a press release about the event.
World Renewal is located on five continents, in 51 countries, and feeds 500 children daily. It also supports two orphanages in Haiti.
Tickets to the fashion show are $10 each. Refreshments will be served, free scarfs will be given, and “major discounts will be available,” according to the release. Call 317-467-9899 for tickets.
‘Back 2 Church’ congregations invite worshipers
GREENFIELD — Brown’s Chapel Wesleyan Church would like to invite everyone in the community to National Back 2 Church Sunday on Sunday (Sept. 18).
Back 2 Church Sunday started in 2009 as a call to action and invitation – action for the church, and invitation for the world.
“Each year since then, the third Sunday in September has been designated as a day to encourage everyone to attend a Bible-based church in their area, and for church leaders to create a welcoming, inviting environment for their visitors,” the church said in a release. “The Brown’s Chapel Wesleyan Church family stands ready to welcome everyone, just as they are, and invites them to come to experience our community of faith.”

Lord’s Acre Festival continues today
McCORDSVILLE — The Lord’s Acre Festival kicked off Friday and continues Saturday (Sept. 17) at McCordsville United Methodist Church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.
The festival is a 70-year tradition that dates back to 1952, when the church was raising money for a parsonage. Its name came from the practice of, in a mostly agricultural community, setting aside the crops from one acre of land as “the Lord’s acre.” A farmer then gave money from the sale of crops from that acre to the church. Those gifts were presented at the close of the festival weekend, during a church service under the festival tent.
Between those gifts, and the cod members fried and sold, the congregation reached the parsonage fundraising goal.
The goal was met, but the festival continued. Over the years it’s raised funds for various projects, from a new roof for the church, to restoring stained-glass windows, to stocking a food pantry, or building a playground in memory of a young boy in the congregation who died.
Along with the traditional fish fry, today’s attractions include:
