Free country concert this Saturday

GREENFIELD – Check out a free, live concert this Saturday at Depot Street Park featuring a Garth Brooks tribute band.

No Fences will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 at the park, 251 Depot St., Greenfield. The group is described on the Greenfield Parks and Recreation social media pages as a tribute to country music icon Garth Brooks, featuring Dusty Miller.

An opening band, Nebo Ridge, begins at 6 p.m. The concert is part of the parks department’s Live @ the Rails series.

Donated books, media accepted

GREENFIELD – Donate gently-used books and media this Saturday at the Hancock County Public Library to help fund upcoming programs and events.

The Friends of the Library will accept books, DVDs, music CDs, video game discs between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 at the side delivery entrance of the main branch, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. A volunteer will assist when someone rings the bell; a tax receipt may be requested.

The Friends of the Library, a nonprofit group of volunteers, raises money through sales of donated items. Proceeds fund concerts, children’s performers and special projects. A Friends book sale is scheduled for Aug. 25-29.

Classic car events scheduled

MCCORDSVILLE – The final Cars and Coffee event of the summer is this Saturday, Aug. 20.

The event is between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Outlook Christian Church, 6531 N. 600W., McCordsville. Search “Outlook Cars & Coffee” on Facebook for updates.

Ice cream celebration planned

GREENFIELD – A community ice cream gathering to celebrate life and a sweet ending to summer will be at Stillinger Family Funeral Home 4:30-6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25.

The free family event will include ice cream, toppings and pup cups, so dogs are welcome as well. The funeral home is located at 1780 W. Main St., Greenfield.

Adult horror book club scheduled

FORTVILLE – An adult horror book club hosted by Scarlet Lane Brewing Company and the Fortville-Vernon Township Public Library will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31 at the brewing company, 7724 Depot St., McCordsville.
