Eastern Hancock opened its boys tennis season with a 5-0 victory over visiting Randolph Southern, Monday.

Singles players Zeke Dixon, Luke Fletcher and Luke Schilling each won matches 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, the No. 1 team of Myles Wennen and Bryce Wennen won 6-1, 7-5. At No. 2, Peyton Stephens and Bo Dixon won 6-0, 6-1.

Marauders start 1-0

Mt. Vernon defeated Shenandoah 5-0 in the boys tennis team’s opening match of the season, at Mt. Vernon on Monday.

All three singles players — Adam Koon, Manny Downs and Robbie Moore — won by scores of 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Matthew Jones and Bryndan Wylie won 6-1, 6-1. Max Orelup and Tate Cougill won 6-0, 6-1.

Dragons edge Greensburg

New Palestine opened its boys tennis season with a victory on the road, 3-2, at Greensburg, Monday.

All three Dragons wins came in singles. Moses Haynes won at No. 1, 7-5, 7-6 (2). Arjamond Khokar, at No. 2, was victorious 6-0, 6-0. Joey McPike added the third NP win 6-4, 6-3.

Girls soccer

Mt. Vernon defeated by Chatard

In its opening match of the season, Mt. Vernon lost 3-1 to visiting Bishop Chatard on Monday.

Scoreless after the first half, the Marauders lone goal came from Ellie Gawrys.

Mt. Vernon goalkeeper Khloe Patterson had six saves.

Girls golf

Cougars defeat Hornets

Sydney Wherry was medalist with a 41 in Greenfield-Central’s girls golf team’s 207-257 win over Beech Grove, Monday.

Laney Elliott added a 53.

Volleyball

Cougars lose 3-1 at Scecina

Greenfield-Central extended the match to a fourth set, but were unable to get completely over the hump at Scecina on Monday.

The Cougars (1-1) lost 3-1 by set scores of 25-11, 25-17, 23-25, 25-15.

Marauders fall to Irish

Mt. Vernon dropped to 1-1 on the season with a 3-0 loss at Cathedral on Monday.

Set scores for the match were 25-9, 25-15, 25-23.

Royals lose to North Decatur

Eastern Hancock lost a 3-0 match, at home, to North Decatur, Monday.

The Royals (2-2) fell 25-17, 25-19, 25-10.
