Janus Kay (McClain) Cook, age 76, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022. She was born in Indianapolis on April 20, 1946, to James and Dorothy (Wright) McClain. She graduated from Franklin Central High School in 1964. Janus received her LPN degree from the School of Practical Nursing, and her RN degree from Ivy Tech. She married Robert Cook on November 26, 1965.

She worked for Community Hospital. In her retirement, she volunteered at the Health Department with vaccinations. Janus was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and enjoyed her Bible study group. She was also a member of the Hoosier Model T Ford Club, and the Model A Club. She liked to read, play games on her phone, and spend time with her family – especially her grandchildren. She loved traveling, going on mission trips, and working with young children.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Robert; sons Brent Cook, and Tye (Carla) Cook; daughter Dawn (Rod) Sparks; grandchildren, Ian Cook, Zach Cook, Lillianna Cook, Beckett Cook, Emberly Cook, Christian Hanneman, Shelbi Hanneman, Emily Hanneman, Jacob Hanneman, Ambrie Staggs, Robbie Sparks, Jake Sparks, Quinn Cook, and Brooke Grinstead; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister Pam Combs. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Dorothy McClain; brother, Barry McClain; and brother-in-law, Richard Combs.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 6513 W. 300 S., New Palestine, Indiana, 46163. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Jason Taylor will be officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
