HCPL to host blood drives Saturday

GREENFIELD – Both branches of the HancockCounty Public Library will host blood drives this Saturday, Aug. 20.

The blood drives will be 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the community rooms of both branches. Masks are required; walk-ins are welcome and registration is accepted at hcplibrary.org. The Sugar Creek branch is located at 5731 W. U.S. 52, New Palestine. The main branch of the library is at 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

Octagon House to host dinner fundraiser

SHIRLEY – A chicken and noodle dinner fundraiser is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Jane Ross Reeves Octagon House, 400 S. Railroad St., Shirley. The $14 meal includes chicken and noodles, mashed potatoes, green beans, dessert and a drink. Carry-out is available; service is on the porch of the house. All proceeds go to the restoration of the historic house; free tours are available.

Sister Cities to host 5K event

GREENFIELD –Sister Cities of Greenfield will host its 10th annual 5K Run/Walk Aug. 20.

The event begins at 9 a.m. this Saturday, Aug. 20 on the Pennsy Trail, starting at Sister Cities Park by the Greenfield Police Department.

Cost is $25 after for participants that have not pre-registered. The event includes timed results and a goodie bag. Sign up at sistercitiesofgreenfield.org/5k.

Golf fundraiser set for Zoey’s Place

GREENFIELD – The Exchange Club will host a fundraiser golf outing benefiting Zoey’s Place Child Advocacy Center.

The event is at 9 a.m. Sept. 24 at Hawk’s Tail Golf Course in Greenfield. Hole sponsorships are available from $150 to $1,200. Checks should be written to Zoey’s Place; for more, visit zoeysplacecac.org or email [email protected]. Deadline to register is Sept. 10.

MV Alumni Association to host reunion event

FORTVILLE – The Mt. Vernon Alumni Association will host its annual class reunion 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. All classes are invited to attend at the Mt. Vernon Alumni Room in the Administrative Service Center, 1806 W. Ind. 234, Fortville.

Special recognition will go to the Class of 1972 (50th anniversary), as well as the classes from 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 197, 1982, 1987 and 1992.

Food and drinks are provided; a $10 donation per person is requested. Reserve a spot by Aug. 26. Checks may be made payable to the Mt. Vernon Alumni Association, P.O. Box 84, Fortville, IN 46040.

Community shred days scheduled

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Banking Company will host two more community shred days at local banking locations.

Free, on-site shredding will be 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 17 at the New Palestine office; and Oct. 1 at the main office in Greenfield.

The service is for paper documents only and people are asked to limit documents to a maximum of three tall kitchen trash bags (13 gallon size). Services are provided by Stericycle Shred-it; participants must remove documents from their own vehicles to hand to an attendant at a shred truck.
