Jeffrey L. Day, 62, of Charlottesville, fought the good fight, kept the faith, and finished his race on Friday, July 29, 2022, at Carmel Health Center in Carmel. He was born on December 20, 1959, in Greenfield to the late Donald &Gertrude (Duff) Day. Jeff graduated from the Elizabeth Memorial Academy in Greenfield and soon after attended the Ministerial Internship Program to become an ordained minister. Jeff met the love of his life, Deborah Conn and they were united in marriage on February 2, 1991, at the Greenfield Church of God.

Throughout his life, Jeff worked at various places, but his true calling was to be in ministry. Jeff was a strong man of faith and gave his heart to the Lord at the young age of 10. Jeff grew up in the Church of God in Greenfield. He was called to preach the Lord’s teaching at the age of 23. Throughout his tenure in the church, Jeff wore many hats, including assistant choir director, assistant clerk, Sunday school/bible schoolteacher, children’s church pastor, and associate pastor. Jeff enjoyed nature. He enjoyed spending time on his family’s farm in the country, where he was a wildlife lover, especially with birds of prey. He enjoyed cooking, gardening/canning food, and traveling with his wife to many different wildlife refuges. Above all his hobbies, Jeff was a family man and cherished being a papaw to his grandchildren. His pride and joy were his family, including his church family.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Deborah Day of Charlottesville; son, Orie (Elizabeth) Day of Lancaster, Kentucky; brother, Don (Sharlene) Day of Martinsville; and 2 grandchildren, Elijah and Calum Day. Jeff is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Debra Hill; and niece, Laura Welage.
