The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection reports.

June 20

Griggsby’s Station

101 W. Main St., Greenfield

Violations found: C – some slaw and dip made in house that was held longer than seven days, corrected; NC, R – debris build-up under coolers, to be corrected by July 7; C – plates in waitress area had debris, corrected.

June 23

Brew 52

4346 S. 500W., New Palestine

Violations found: NC, R – gaps at floor where wood was placed over opening, replace wood with non-absorbent surface, to be corrected by July 29; NC – handle of spoon was in cut strawberries, corrected; NC – no soap at hand sink in ice cream area, corrected; NC – need to provide sanitizer test strips for quaternary sanitizer, to be corrected by June 27; NC, R – debris build-up on panini press, prep cooler, stove, shelving, to be corrected by June 27; NC, R – debris build-up on floors in several areas, to be corrected by June 27; NC – need to have thermometers in all reach-in refrigeration units that do not have exterior reading, to be corrected by June 27.

Violations found: C – dairy cream in refrigeration unit is above 41 degrees corrected; NC – refrigeration unit needs to have a thermometer, to be corrected by June 27.

Violations found: NC – ice build-up in walk-in cooler, to be corrected by July 20; NC, R – handle of ice scoop in ice, corrected; C, R – some products being held cold at the end of the line were above 41 degrees, corrected; NC – some debris build-up on walls of refrigeration units and hot-holding cabinet, to be corrected by July 20; NC – repair walls at entry to room by mop sink, to be corrected by July 20; NC – some debris in pan where clean lids are stored, corrected.

Violations found: C, R – foods in hot-holding unit are below 135 degrees, corrected; NC – walk-in freezer has some ice build-up on floor, to be corrected by Aug. 1.

Violations found: NC, R – debris on floors under equipment such as freezers, coolest, prep cooler, to be corrected by July 12; NC – debris build-up on freezer / cooler handles, doors, seals, debris on lower shelves of tables, to be corrected by July 12; NC – some tiles in kitchen area are cracked/broken, to be corrected by Aug. 8.
