NEW PALESTINE
Dwight Hostin Whitmer, age 65, of New Palestine, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at Community North Hospital. He was born in Richmond, Virginia on January 19, 1957 to Thelma (Dew) and Frank Whitmer. He graduated from Fairland High School in Proctorville, Ohio and received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Marshall University. On March 22, 1986, Dwight married Leslie J. Hale.
He spent his career working in property management. Dwight enjoying watching the Indianapolis Colts and spending time with his family at the Cow Pasture River in Virginia.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Leslie Whitmer; children, Jacob Whitmer and Mollie Gibson; his favorite son-in-law, Wryan Gibson; grandchildren, Wesson, Maelie, and Paxton; brother, David Whitmer; and sister at heart, Sherry Connor. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Donald Whitmer.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the JDRF Indiana and Kentucky Chapter, 225 S. East St. Suite 280, Indianapolis, IN 46202 in honor of his granddaughter, Maelie who has Type 1 Diabetes or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
