Janice L. (Spaulding) O’Neill, age 85, of Greenfield, passed away peacefully at her home, Sunday, June 26, 2022. She was born in Loogootee on July 9, 1936 to Crystol (Arvin) and Donald J. Spaulding. She graduated from St. John The Evangelist High School in 1954 and went on to get her degree in nursing from St. Vincent Nursing School in 1957. On January 29, 1958, she married Jerry David O’Neill in Loogootee.

Before retiring in 1998, she worked as a nurse at the Hancock County Health Department for 15 years. Prior to the health department, she was a nurse at Dr. James T. Anderson Family Practice for over 25 years. Janice served on the board of the Hancock County Senior Services and was a member of the Hancock County Purdue Home Economics Extension. She was also a member at St. Michael Catholic Church for many years and often volunteered at the Hancock County Food Pantry.

Janice is survived by her children, Patrick O’Neill of Indianapolis; Kathleen Reger (Mark) of Wilkinson, Michael O’Neill (Becky) of Shirley; and Ann Schlosser (Bill) of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Amanda Galbraith (Sam), Samantha Hoopingarner (Ryan), Elizabeth Whitlow (William) and Emily Reger; great-grandchildren, Noah, Carter, Maryn, Gentry, Emryn and Ellis; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; sister, Glenda Marley; and brother, Donald Spaulding.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 1, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140 with a Rosary Service beginning at 3:45 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd, Greenfield, IN 46140 with 1 hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made by mail to the Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center, 801 N State St, Greenfield, IN 46140; Hancock County Food Pantry, 741 S State St, Greenfield, IN 46140; and St. Michael Catholic School, 519 Jefferson Blvd, Greenfield, IN 46140 or envelopes will be available at the mortuary and church.
