GREENFIELD
Carolyn Jane (Kemerly) Garriott, age 81, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2022. She was born in Greenfield on July 5, 1940 to Estella Pauline (Foreback) and Ralph Sturet Kemerly. She graduated from Hancock Central in 1958. On February 7, 1965, Carolyn married Everett Lee Garriott.
She worked as a nurse’s aide for many years and then went into working retail at Ben Franklin &3-D and Kmart in Greenfield. Carolyn was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as a past president of the Hancock County Purdue Extension Home Economics group. She loved ceramics and had her own little business where she gave lessons. Making dishes and baking ware were her favorite.
Carolyn is survived by her son, Travis Garriott (Linda) of Muncie; grandchildren, Missy, Jennifer, Brandy, Becky and Shelly; many great-grandchildren; and brothers, Cleo, Thomas (Marla) and Jerry (Barb) Kemerly. She was preceded in death by her mom and dad; husband; son, Jeptha Troy Thomas; grandson, Jeremy Newkirk; brother, Marvin Kemerly; sister-in-law, Nayo Kemerly.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at the mortuary on Friday, June 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mendon Cemetery in Pendleton.
