Herb society to host flower meeting

GREENFIELD – Learn to press flowers in a program by the Hancock County Herb Society this Thursday, June 2.

The program will feature Ann Kartholl discussing flowers including violets and pansies, the herb of the year. The program begins at 6:30 p.m. and Lizabuth Ann’s Kitchen, behind the J.W. Riley Boyhood Home and Museum, 250 W. Main St., Greenfield. Light refreshments will be served; meetings are free and open to the public. Community shred days scheduled

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Banking Company will have community shred days this summer and fall at several banking locations.

Free, on-site shredding will be 9 a.m. to noon at least one Saturday a month including this Saturday, June 4 at the Cumberland office; June 11 at the McCordsville office; July 23 at the Fortville office; Sept. 17 at the New Palestine office; and Oct. 1 at the main office in Greenfield.

The service is for paper documents only and people are asked to limit documents to a maximum of three tall kitchen trash bags (13 gallon size). Services are provided by Stericycle Shred-it; participants must remove documents from their own vehicles to hand to an attendant at a shred truck.

Heroes dinner registration open

GREENFIELD – Tickets are available now for the Community Walk of Fame Annual Dinner Celebration of Hancock County Heroes.

Bingo event to benefit McCordsville facility

INDIANAPOLIS – A designer Bag Bingo event at a VFW Post in Indianapolis will raise money to help support programs and scholarships in McCordsville.

The Jack Roysdon Memorial Foundation/VFW Auxiliary Post 7119 Designer Bag Bingo will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at 6525 Lee Road, Indianapolis. Cost is $40 for 10 games with extra games and raffles available. Dinner will be provided by Kinsey’s Italian Cafe and beer and wine are available for purchase at the event for people 21 and older.

The organization adopts the residents at Traditions at Brookside Memory Unit in McCordsville throughout the year and gives high school seniors scholarships. The volunteers assist with Easter, Christmas and Veterans Day celebrations at Traditions at Brookside and all of the funds raised go back into the community. Feline Fun Run to benefit humane society

GREENFIELD – A free Feline Fun Run 5K event will start at 8 a.m. Saturday, June 11 at Depot Street Park in Greenfield. The event welcomes runners and walkers in support of Matthew Hentz’s Eagle Scout project. The Hancock County Humane Society will be on hand for free will donations.

Charity ride, car show scheduled

GREENFIELD – Bucks for Brian charity event will be all day Saturday, June 18, hosted by Snapper’s Bar and Grill in Greenfield. The benefit event is for longtime Greenfield resident Brian Miller, who faces cancer and the tumor has caused his neck to be broken.

The event will include a charity ride with registration starting at 10 and kickstands up at 11; cost is $20 for a single and $25 for a rider with a passenger. A car show will be at 2 p.m.; there will also be a live auction, silent auction, food, cornhole tournament and an appearance by the Hickory Huskers bus from the movie “Hoosiers.”
