New Palestine High School seniors graduate

NEW PALESTINE — On a sunshine soaked morning, a day after evening showers postponed graduation, the New Palestine High School Class of 2022 was able to say so long with a spirited turning of the tassels during an outdoor graduation ceremony Saturday at Kelso Stadium.

A total of 278 students earned diplomas with the vast majority taking part in their final high school festivities. This year’s class theme was an all-encompassing statement, “I encourage you to live with life. Be courageous, adventurous. Give us a tomorrow more than we deserve,” by Maya Angelou.

Principal Jim Voelz noted this year’s senior class was “resilient” having gone through several years of COVID as well as attending classes during a major construction project at the high school.

Class valedictorian Alex Alonzo, salutatorians Zachary Au and Luke Whitaker, along with class presidents Braeden Baker and Emma Mann, represented their peers one final time speaking during the ceremony, noting high school is not the end, but the beginning.
