GREENFIELD – You don’t need to spend a dime or drive far to enjoy the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer.

When it comes to summer fun, Hancock County has plenty of freebies on the horizon. Here’s a look at activities, events and festivals you and your family can hit up on the cheap.

June

3 – Entertainment @ Depot Street Park, 7 p.m. featuring a free concert by Area Code 812.

4 – Cumberland Trails Day, featuring races, games, vendors and food trucks, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Lions Park, 301 N. Buck Creek Road, Cumberland.

6 – Amazon John family animal show at the Hancock County Public Library; see hcplibrary.org for times and registration.

11 – Feline Fun Run 5K, 8 a.m., Depot Street Park, 251 Depot St., Greenfield; Eagle Scout project will benefit the Hancock County Humane Society through free will donations.

11 – Touch A Truck, noon to 5 pm., 101 W. South St., Greenfield; children can see, touch and explore trucks and vehicles. Event is free but tickets are required at greenfieldmainstreet.org.

13 – “Stuntology” show at both branches of the Hancock County Public Library; see hcplibrary.org for times and registration.

13 – Beach Party Family Concert, 5:30 p.m., Daniel’s Vineyard; visit danielsvineyard.com for details.

18 – Live at the Rails and grand opening of Depot Street Park, 251 Depot St., Greenfield featuring free concerts by Full Tilt at 3 p.m., Project 19 at 5:30 p.m. and Stella Luna at 8 pm.

21 – Summer Series at Riley Park Pavilion, hosted by Hancock 4 Kids, 6 p.m., featuring food, games and free school supplies.
