GREENFIELD – Several local schools received the All Music Award from the Indiana State School Music Association, honoring groups that have well-rounded programs in the performing arts.

Greenfield-Central High School’s orchestra program received the award for the first time since the string program has been in existence at G-CHS.

The Greenfield-Central High School band and middle school band program also received the award, and both programs have been honored with a similar award in the past. The middle school program, for example, also earned the honor in 2018 and 2019.

Mt. Vernon High School band also received the All Music Award. The program had earned the honor consecutively from 2013-2019.

The All Music Award is earned by programs that receive at least one gold rating at a jazz event, one gold rating at an organization event, and have at least one soloist and one small group qualify for state solo and ensemble contests.

The Greenfield-Central High School orchestra program earned an All Music Award for the first time this spring. Submitted photo
